In the woodworking competition he received "1st Place" for his model locomotive and tender and "Honorable Mention" for his bi-plane. Frank is already contemplating entries for next year's contests. Margie Griffith is about to “cross off yet another”: “To celebrate a half turn of a century and to check off one of my Bucket List items, my lifelong girlfriends (who are also turning 50) and I will be TOURING TUSCANY via Bike this summer. Yes, we are actually daring to travel from Florence to Rome on bicycles for a nine- day stretch. How great is that that we will be able to view vineyards, olive tree fields, medieval castles and Churches from a bike seat. Sounds adventurous, and each night we will be staying in quaint country inns and fancy hotels spotted all along the way.” You be careful out there now, ya hear! And, by now you have heard the news, Ellen & Kevin Kleinschmidt are now grandparents of Grace Ann, born to son, Andy, and his wife, Roseann, in Baltimore on Friday, the 13th of March. Ginny & Roger Zwieg (Fairway Palms) are the proud great-grandparents. CONGRATS! Thanks from Bunny Heilmann >> “A big thank you to the ladies of LaPaloma who supported my silent auction on March 10. We raised $300 for The American Cancer Society and Relay for Life at Riverview High School. My neighbors were very generous with new or barely used merchandise, good stuff! A dessert bar with homemade goodies was served along with a beverage bar. My husband, Bob, and Text Box: sister and brother-in-law, Katherine and Gary Kemp, helped with the event. Not only did we raise money for Relay for Life, but it was a great time to visit with all of our neighbors!”

Villa d’Este

Welcome New Residents!
Kathy and Mary Sonzogni
3822 Salida Del Sol Drive

Everyone wants to know who the residents of our first 2-story in Villa d' Este are, well let me introduce you to the wonderful Mother-Daughter combo of Kathy and Mary. Relocating here from Venice, FL, so Mary can be closer to school where she attends graduate school at USF in Tampa. Kathy still works in Sarasota, so the location was perfect as they can both split the Text Box: difference. You will definitely see both Kathy and Mary out and about as they are quite active and social people and just wonderful neighbors to have. We certainly are fortunate to have them in our community as they will bring good life and warm friendships to our neighborhood. Welcome to the neighborhood Kathy and Mary!
Other Villa d' Este Haps:
Feb. 14: Valentine's dinner at the Cypress Creek Golf Club in which 11 people enjoyed dinner together. Great conversation, great food and no cleaning up! Feb. 21: Men's poker night was again a hit as 10 guys threw their money, jokes and some drinks around just having a great time amongst neighbors. Fortunately, no one was too big of a loser and congratulations to Bob our new "Silent Assassin" and to Chuck for introducing a new game called "Put your Money in the Pot so Chuck wins!" (Not sure why we all kept playing that dumb game!) Ok Chuck, we will let you off the hook as you and Susan were wonderful hosts as always, thank you! March 7: 7 couples attended the Tampa Bay Lightning hockey game at the St Pete Times Forum. What a deal as we got great seats, a beer and a hot dog for only $20.00! It was really an enjoyable time all sitting together, watching the game and getting to talk in a whole different setting. The Lightning even tried a whole new approach that night playing the whole game without a goalie as they gave up 11 goals, but I guess they won’t try that new strategy again as they got KILLED! Still a great time though. March 28: Many people got together for a great potluck dinner and amazingly, without coordinating who is bringing what, no one brought the same thing! The evening then moved into a great game night with many different games while others just enjoyed talking and being entertained by the players. Another game night/potluck dinner will definitely be on the calendar soon. And other news from The Villages at Cypress Creek >>Lots of new construction in the Cypress Creek Executive Park on Cypress Creek Boulevard, across from the driving range. A whole new building is being constructed and not just future empty space, but tenants awaiting being able to move in!
Also new home construction in Villa d Este. We have done a 6004 before, we have now done a 2-story, but this will be our first 6004 2-story! We are excited to welcome the Siegrist family and have them a part of our community. We will all be excited to see this home take shape, ground will start moving the first week of April and just roll along. ~ Tim Bekkering
