Tuesday, July 1st, was a “red letter day” for HCC! July 1st marked the last day of classes at the HCC Sunpoint Plaza, the first day of classes at HCC SouthShore Campus and the first official tour of the inside of the first building was conducted on this very special day.  Our own community had the distinction of being invited as this first official tour! The tour was conducted by Dr. Allen Witt, Dean of Academic Affairs, and Steve Stancil, Interim Dean of Student Services.  We marveled and were inspired by all of the innovative energy-conserving attributes!

The Greater Sun City Center Area Community Planning Open House was held in June.  The Open House was open to all residents and businesses.  The purpose of the Open House was to obtain prioritization feedback from the community.  Since February, a number of meetings were held to establish the full list of priorities under the elements of: Health Services, Transportation, Land Use, Communications, Recreation, Commercial Development and Environmental Safety. The next step in the process is that a request will be made on July 22nd to the Board of County Commissioners to be included in the County Comprehensive Plan.
