Property Maintenance

Lawn Watering

Restrictions are enforced in Hillsborough County due to water conservation. 

Current restrictions for watering once a week (effective December 16, 2006) are as follows:

Addresses ending in 0 or 1: watering on Mondays

Addresses ending in 2 or 3: watering on Tuesdays

Addresses ending in 4 or 5: watering on Wednesdays

Addresses ending in 6 or 7: watering on Thursdays

Addresses ending in 8 or 9: watering on Fridays

Irrigation must be accomplished before 8am and after 6pm.  Any one zone of a property may only be watered once during the allowable day, NOT both in the morning and again in the evening. 

New plantings/sod can be watered everyday for 30 days before 8am and after 6pm.

Lawn Care

The resident is responsible for lawn care in all Villages except Fairway Palms. 

Garbage Pickup

Wednesday morning (trash and recyclables)

Saturday morning (trash and yard/lawn clippings*)

Blue and Green Recycle bins are available from the Solid Waste Management Department 272.5680

The blue bin is for paper (minus any plastic cover), old phonebooks, etc. and clean, unwaxed corrugated cardboard (cut to a maximum of 3-foot squares). Does not include cereal boxes, pizza boxes, waxed boxes or paper drink carriers. 

The green bin is for rinsed plastic bottles and jars with the numbers 1 and 2 (inside triangle on bottom or side of bottle or jar), glass bottles and jars (any color), aluminum and steel food and beverage cans.  Please remove all caps and lids and place in garbage. Does not include plastic tubs or cups, aluminum pans or foil, hangers, household batteries or styrofoam.

*There is a limit of twelve 30-gallon containers of yard waste (branches, limbs, grass clippings, shrubbery, etc.) cut to 4-foot lengths and no more than 6 inches in diameter, neatly stacked, bundled and/or bagged for collection.  The weight of each container bundled, bagged or individual item must not exceed 50 pounds.  You may also deliver excess amounts of yard waste to one of the County’s three yard waste processing facilities located at: 350 Falkenburg Road, 9805 Sheldon Road, and 1300 US Highway 41 (just north of Big Bend Road).

 Household Chemicals and Electronics Collections

SouthCounty residents are encouraged to safely dispose of household chemicals and electronics by taking them to the collection site on the second Saturday of the month from 8am to 2pm on Powell Road (1/4 mile north of Big Bend Road).  Insecticides, paint, televisions and computers are some of the items taken at this collection time.
